UK Vein Clinic partners with Pioneer to deliver leg ulcer care

UK Vein Clinic partners with Pioneer to deliver leg ulcer care

Wednesday 29th April 2026UK Vein Clinic, a specialist provider of consultant-led vein care, has announced a new partnership with Pioneer Wound Healing and Lymphoedema Centres, bringing together two expert services to improve outcomes for patients with chronic wounds, lymphoedema, and underlying venous disease.

Leg ulcers are a major health burden in the UK, affecting over one million adults, with 560,000–730,000 cases treated each year. Despite this, many patients still face long waits for a vascular assessment.

The partnership reflects UK Vein Clinic’s commitment to improving access to specialist venous assessment and treatment for patients whose conditions are often driven or worsened by faulty veins. Venous insufficiency is the leading cause of leg ulcers and a key reason they recur.

By combining UK Vein Clinic’s consultant-led diagnostics and minimally invasive treatments with Pioneer’s specialist wound healing and lymphoedema expertise, the collaboration will provide patients with a more coordinated, guideline‑aligned pathway, ensuring venous disease is identified and treated alongside wound and lymphoedema care, which aligns with national and international guidelines recommending venous assessment as part of the leg ulcer pathway.

Jason Powell, Founder of UK Vein Clinic said: “We know that venous disease is a major driver of delayed healing and recurrence of leg ulcers. Working alongside Pioneer means we can deliver venous assessment earlier in the pathway, in line with national and international guidelines for legulcer care. It’s a practical step that will help reduce delays and support more sustainable outcomes for patients who often face long and difficult journeys.”

Professor Jenni MacDonald, Chief Nurse at Pioneer, added: “I’m so excited we’ve created the type of service many healthcare professionals dream of providing. I can’t wait to see the impact of vein treatments on the healing of our patients’ leg ulcers. Patients dealing with lipoedema and lymphoedema often have vein issues too, which can make their symptoms worse, so I feel proud that we can now offer vein scans and treatments to improve this.”

Founded in 2020, UK Vein Clinic was established to improve access to specialist venous care across the UK, using advanced diagnostics and minimally invasive treatments to reduce waiting times and support more efficient use of NHS resources. Pioneer, a leader in wound healing and lymphoedema care, has long championed multidisciplinary approaches to improve outcomes for patients with complex lower limb conditions.

This partnership represents an important step in delivering timely, joined up care for patients who often face fragmented pathways, repeated ulcer recurrence and long waits for specialist assessment.
