The smart choice for healthy veins means choosing an expert team - and an approach driven by results and rigorous care. Get relief that lasts when you visit us at our specialist London clinic
We’ll call to discuss your symptoms and email you a copy of our assessment. If treatment is appropriate, we’ll book your first appointment at our clinic on Harley Street, in the heart of London’s medical district
A specialist doctor will meet you and carry out a full duplex ultrasound scan to help decide the best treatment for you. Your doctor will make sure you understand your options fully. A standard consultation, including scanning, takes around 45 minutes
All our treatments are minimally invasive, with no lasers or general anaesthetic needed. They ensure less post-op pain, lower risk of infection, and little or no scarring. Your vascular surgeon (‘vascular’ refers to veins and other blood vessels) will use radiofrequency technology to treat most varicose veins. We’ll use more duplex ultrasound scanning during these procedures, to guide your surgeon
We’ll arrange a second follow-up consultation with a second ultrasound scan, to check your veins are properly closed. At this point, we’ll use a technique called ‘sclerotherapy’ (where foam or a saline solution is injected into the vein) to treat any residual varicose veins you have too
Your doctor will explain in detail what to do after surgery. If you’ve had an operation on your leg(s), you may need to wear compression stockings for up to two weeks. Otherwise, you should be able to get back to your normal routine almost immediately: taking care to ensure you feel fit and comfortable enough to drive, work, or exercise etc. However, we do recommend avoiding long-haul flights for 6 weeks following treatment of larger varicose veins. (This is because of the increased risk of thrombosis in a pressurised plane cabin.)
We only use non-invasive treatments that minimise the risk of complications and post-op pain. However, all procedures can lead to minor adverse effects such as bruising, redness, and tenderness in the treated area. Some patients find the area feels numb for a few days; others experience some minor discomfort that is usually managed using over-the-counter pain relief. Very occasionally, some patients experience a slight staining of the skin that does not clear up over time
If you're just having thread veins in your face or elsewhere treated, the process is a little different. You'll start with a consultation at our Harley Street clinic, but there's usually no need for an ultrasound scan
Following this appointment, we'll book you in for the first of your treatment sessions using Veinwave: a non-invasive, virtually painless technique that eradicates thread veins
